Diamonds have identifying characteristics which establish their identity and quality. If the characteristics are internal, they are called inclusions; if they are external, they are called blemishes. Most cannot be seen with the unaided eye and require magnification to become visible. They are nature's fingerprints and make every diamond unique. The less visible the characteristics are, the more rare the diamond will be. |
