The watches from IWC are the stuff of legend and adventure. Their
beginning is a dynamic and fascinating piece of Swiss industrial history, the
results of which can be found on countless thousands of wrists all over the
world. In 1868, an American named Florentine Ariosto Jones made the brave
decision to establish a watch factory in Switzerland from where he planned to
supply the United States with movements. While in Le Locle, Switzerland, he met
watch manufacturer and industrialist Johann Heinrich Moser, who expressed great
interest in the plan. Their meeting and partnership laid the foundation for the
first and only watch-manufacturing facility in north-eastern Switzerland, the
International Watch Co. in Schaffhausen. Watches from Schaffhausen are
